The trial riot is about to start again.
Producers of Maamla Legal Hai have released the Season 2 trailer and have reinstated Ravi Kishan in the popular role he plays, and a new set of cases and characters. This new season will be released on Netflix April 3.
Following a successful debut season, the show comes back with even bigger stakes, a more cutting-edge sense of humor and more panic within the constantly busy Patparganj court.
Familiar Courtroom, New Twists
Ravi Kishan once again takes the role of V.D. Tyagi, however this time with a huge twist now he is a judge.
The new season is only set by that change.
The trailer also suggests various new cases, and each of them will have its unique combination of drama and comedy. With quaint lawsuits to the twists and turns of the courtrooms, the second season seems to be even more inclined toward the anarchy that made the first one such a hit.
Meanwhile, it will have more depth storytelling, with character relationships becoming more profound.
New Face, More Havoc
Other returning actors such as Naila Grewal, Yashpal Sharma and Nidhi Bisht will join Ravi Kishan.
New this season is Kusha Kapila who is likely to bring some shake in the already competitive courtroom setting. Her appearance will probably bring a new dimension of fun and surprise as the tone of the show is already rather humorous.
Ravi Kishan on Coming back as V.D. Tyagi
Discussing the process of returning to the role, Ravi Kishan referred to it as being quite familiar and thrilling.
He said it was like coming home to a very crazy, very lovable courtroom going back to Maamla Legal Hai. In retrospect to the reaction of the audience with Season 1, he remarked how seldom an actor can find a character that resonates with the audience, but he believes this has been the case with Tyagi.
According to him, Season 2 goes beyond just comedy. The comedy can be more powerful, yet the emotional subtext is richer as well. He stressed that audiences should anticipate greater warmth and sincerity among the mayhem, and moments that reflect daily struggles and small personal achievements.
The Crew of the Series
The series is still produced by Posham Pa Pictures, and its showrunner is Sameer Saxena.
The same director, Rahul Pandey, continues to use the same visual and narrative style of the show.
Maamla Legal Hai was initially produced by Saurabh Khanna and Kunal Aneja and the writing of the second season is done by Syed Shadan, Mohak Aneja and Tatsat Pandey with Kunal Aneja as the head.
What to Expect This Season
Season 2 seems to be more of an expansion of what worked in the past as opposed to being an entirely new concept, as is indicated by the trailer.
Viewers can expect:
- Still more unusual cases
- Faster-paced courtroom exchanges
- Stronger character arcs
- And a moderation of humour and sentiment
The show appears to be geared towards the capture of the day-to-day realities of the legal system, but with a twist that ensures things are interesting and entertaining.
Final Take
Having a combination of returning characters, new ones and a change in dynamics, Maamla Legal Hai Season 2 seems poised to continue its previous success.
It’s not just about courtroom drama. It is the individuals within it, their tensions, their idiosyncrasy, and the little victories which count.
Maamla Legal Hai Season 2 starts streaming on Netflix on April 3.
